This year Canada Day in Halifax will feature a variety of cultural, musical, and family-friendly events. The Halifax Regional Municipality. KANA’TA: Canada Day on. Malls and libraries in the Halifax Regional Municipality will be closed on Canada Day. HRM is hosting a number of festivities.

North on Brunswick St, dispersing at Scotiabank Centre. Start your day by lining the streets with friends and family as you witness more than 25 groups and floats from all over the world. This event is always packed with entertainment and artists to wow the whole community.
A Cultural Village will be created in the middle of the Halifax Commons for families to enjoy music, crafts, games, authentic indigenous cuisine, and more. Come on down and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of a Pow Wow. The Emera Oval will be open for free skates and other games planned for children. More details to come! During the pandemic, the Canada Day Drumming event was held online to say thank you to our frontline health care workers. We have also broken the Guinness World Record of simultaneous drumming with Canadian cities and 26 international cities in 13 countries!
With support from the Halifax Regional Municipality, we are bringing this in-person multi-cultural drumming celebration to Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park on July 1st, Our main stage concert will be high energy from start to finish! As we go live across the country to showcase Halifax during a National broadcast we ask all attending to prepare for a great night of live entertainment. Please Note: This is not a Harbour fireworks show. It will be a Pyrotechnic Display finale for our headliner at the end of the show.
Also DeWolfe Park will have a large scale fireworks show. We come together to contemplate our past, celebrate our present, and imagine our future.

This year’s Canada Day is a significant one. Not only is it the first time in two years communities will be able to gather on July 1st, but it’s the first time Halifax Regional Municipality has planned their annual Canada Day programming in partnership with the Mi’Kmaw Native Friendship Centre.
This collaboration has produced a more inclusive event, honouring the culture and traditions of the Indigenous Peoples, the first people to take care of the land we now call Canada. This year there are so many great concerts, family-friendly events, and experiences planned for the Canada Day long weekend. Keep reading so you don’t miss a thing! See the line up of events below:. Mawio’mi on the Commons 11am-4pm. Mawio’mi is a Mi’kmaw word for gathering. Head to the Mawio’mi on the Commons for an afternoon of traditional dancing, singing and drumming, authentic indigenous cuisine and crafts and games!
The Canada Day Drumming Celebration is a nation-wide annual event where individuals all over the country unite for six minutes of simultaneous drumming. The event strives to connect communities while promoting cultural diversity and inclusion.
A pyrotechnic display finale will top off the night! Get your FREE passes to the main event here and please note that passes are only valid for entry before pm. Pier 21’s Canada Day programming includes free access to the Museum, live musical performances and DJs, chalk artists, a photo booth and more!
This year’s theme is HOPE, the Museum challenges us to consider who we were, who we are now, and who we can become together, as Canadians. The popular Bedford Days celebration will come to a close on July 1st.
See the schedule of festivities below:. Indulge in a pancake breakfast in the park with Sunnyside pancakes served by the Sunnyside Restaurant staff! Let the kids celebrate by bouncing their hearts away! Tickets and bracelets will be sold on site. Glow’s Fun Land is open again for the evening!
Note that bracelets purchased earlier during the day session are not valid for this evening session. Atlantic Canadian party band Donair Supply will perform on the main stage. There will also be kids entertainment and a firework finale beginning at 10pm! Sackville ‘s Patriot Days also will be coming to a close on July 1s, but not before the Celebrate Canada Parade down Sackville Drive and some other fun events!
Head to Fultz House at 11am to celebrate their 40th anniversary and watch the raising of the flag. Picnic tables and benches will also be set up on the grounds if you’d like to sit and enjoy your meal while there! Bring the kids – and their favourite stuffie – to the Sackville Area at 91 First Lake Drive for an afternoon of games, bouncy castles, cake and barbecue!
Explore the shops, get a cone from What’s the Scoop, and meet some live mermaids! The mermaids will be outside of Shore Things from 12pm-2pm. Fill your belly with the best ribs in town at the 8th Annual Harbourside Ribfest. Atlantic Canada’s largest volunteer-run event is coming to Dartmouth this year. Featuring five world-renowned rib trucks, a selection of local vendors, and live entertainment all day, the Harbourside Ribfest is back and better than ever!
To make things even more exciting, all profits go to the Rotary Club of Halifax Harbour , a group dedicated to charitable giving both locally and internationally.
